Vinted Members Voice Displeasure Regarding Sizing Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has altered its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Experiences
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
