Iran Claims Assault on US Base in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the American officials has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
